Key Success

Planning Permission – Crown Care

NKA provide numerous services to Crown Care and in this instance, support was needed to secure planning permission for a new care home provision in Buckingham.

The location was a historically and very traditional town centre, with a local community well established and quite fixed in their view. The process was quite complicated as there were multiple tiers of government to engage with and secure support or remove resistance from. Key messaging was critical to this work, with research undertaken initially to understand the thinking of the different key stakeholder groups in order to inform and shape the approach made to engage and consult with each.

Work undertaken included the development and production of literature to inform local residents and local elected members of the scheme; community drop-in sessions were held in the town. Presentations were made to the town council and the district council, and briefings were provided to elected members at level of local government. The final piece of work involved presenting to the planning committee and securing a positive planning response from the committee. The result for the business was a new development of a 68 bedroom, and 15 assisted living apartments meaning a multi-million-pound investment for Crown Care.

Client Testimonial

We approached NKA Public Affairs having been recommended their work, we were immediately impressed by the knowledge of the company and of the willingness to go the extra mile. Not only have we received the support on a number of successful planning applications across the country, where Nick has taken the lead on stakeholder management, with the local authority, the elected members, and the local community, he has taken the responsibility for all media and communications matters and ensures that the business is represented positively and effectively.

His communication skills are exceptional, and his understanding of local government and all matters relating to planning are self-evident.

Alongside Nick’s local government knowledge and communication skills, we have been able to take advantage of a shrewd and tactical business mind and he is seen as a key part of our strategic thinking.
I would have no hesitation in recommending others looking to engage NKA Public Affairs.
